Bartlett Law is a criminal defense and civil litigation firm. Based in Houston, the firm serves clients in Harris County and the surrounding counties — Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Waller — and throughout the State of Texas.
The firm’s structure defines its approach. Bartlett Law deliberately limits the number of matters it undertakes, taking only cases it can prepare thoroughly and try if trial is what the case demands. There is no handoff to an associate and no case manager between you and your lawyer — every matter is handled personally by the attorney, from the first confidential consultation through resolution.
Aggressive, experienced defense in state and federal court — from investigation and arrest through trial.
Trial-ready representation in high-stakes civil matters in state and federal court.
Rhett Bartlett is the founder of Bartlett Law, a trial practice focused on criminal defense and civil litigation.
Rhett is a courtroom lawyer. Before founding the firm, he handled criminal appeals at the Office of the Texas Attorney General, prosecuted cases in a district attorney’s office, and defended civil suits in insurance defense practice. That experience on both sides of the docket — prosecution and defense, plaintiff and defendant — informs how he prepares every case: ready for trial from day one.
During law school, Rhett served as one of two law clerks to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee under Senator John Cornyn of Texas. He later served on the press team of President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Rhett received his B.B.A. from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law, and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy from Yale University.
He lives in Houston with his wife, Courtney, a physician at Texas Children’s Hospital and a cancer survivor, and their two dogs, Lucy and Toby.
Representing the Grammy-winning DJ, producer, and media personality, Bartlett Law defeated a $21 million civil suit brought against DJ Khaled in Fort Bend County.
Bartlett Law resolved all of its clients’ claims against Xcel Energy arising from the Smokehouse Creek Fire, the largest wildfire in Texas history, which burned 1,058,482 acres.
The firm obtained a temporary injunction in Hemphill County on behalf of a rancher whose landlord had blocked access to leased grazing land, restoring the client’s access to his cattle.
Bartlett Law secured the dismissal of a DWI charge against its client in Wheeler County.
